"A mother is the embodiment of life and love."

Hello mamas, my name is Johnna Naraki. I am a private practice lactation consultant, doula, and registered nurse with 25 years experience working with postpartum mamas and newborns. I am a certified breastfeeding specialist (CBS), certified lactation counselor (CLC), and an IBCLC candidate (awaiting my exam results) for my certification as an international board certified lactation consultant. In addition to my years caring for new mamas and babies in the hospital as a RN, and teaching/assisting with breastfeeding, I have birthed and breastfed my own children. I love supporting mamas in their prenatal and postpartum wellness, and as a doula it would be a blessing to support you. Supporting mamas with breastfeeding has been a love of mine since 1996. I am available for home, virtual and office visits. I am currently working on a certification in holistic and attachment-focused sleep for your baby -coming soon. Where normalizing sleep and breastfeeding will leave you feeling connected with your little one.

*I do not provide medical care or give medical advice.

Lactation Support

Breastfeeding provides life giving milk that nourishes the body and soul of both the mother and baby, but sometimes the delivery of it can leave a new mama feeling flustered. As a certified breastfeeding specialist (CBS), certified lactation counselor (CLC), and IBCLC candidate, I can help. Since 1996, I have helped thousands of newborns latch on to their mother's breast for the first time. Helping mamas with hands on support and achieving an effective latch has been one of my greatest joys. Correct positioning and proper latch are essential for a successful beginning and I would be honored to help you with that. Troubleshooting difficulties at any stage of your breastfeeding journey and working through them with you is what I am passionate about. Mama, I would love to support you and your newborn on your breastfeeding journey. I am available for in-home lactation support exclusive for breastfeeding in Orange County, California and the areas surrounding northern Orange County. I also have office appointments available in the Irvine/Newport Beach, CA area and I can be available virtually for lactation consultations as well.

  • initial lactation visits up to 90 minutes, follow up lactation visits up to 60 minutes

  • home, office and virtual appointments available

  • prenatal lactation education virtual appointments available

As your postpartum doula + birth doula, I will gently support you physically and emotionally at home during labor & birth and during the postpartum period. Birth support begins with two prenatal visits to get acquainted, so that I can best support you during labor & birth and ends within the first 4 hours after birth. As your birth doula, I will continue to support you during your immediate postpartum period with breastfeeding and postpartum care. The postpartum period or 4th trimester, is a time that might leave you feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. I know you will do an amazing job mothering your sweet newborn, but mamas, you need to be mothered too! As your postpartum doula, I will support you at home in the days and weeks after giving birth. I am here to help you with your newborn and support you in the midst of your recovery as you navigate those first days and weeks. Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, I will come to you with the wisdom and experience I have gained from my work as a postpartum and newborn registered nurse of twenty-five years. Postpartum doula home visits typically extend out 6-8 weeks post giving birth and include breastfeeding support. I am available to support you as your birth doula for attended home births and as your postpartum doula for postpartum home visits in Orange County, California and the areas surrounding northern Orange County. I am also available via the phone for questions related to anything prenatal, postpartum and newborn.

Holistic Sleep Support

{I am currently working on my baby-led sleep and well-being specialist certification with Isla-Grace sleep. Soon to be offering- sleep solutions for babies and toddlers that validate your mama heart and intuition using a holistic and attachment-focused approach. No sleep training.} It is normal for a baby to wake during the night for feedings and to have their needs met by you. They need your loving touch to sooth them back to sleep. During our virtual support consultation, I will ask you questions to gain a deeper understanding of your unique family lifestyle, what your little one's typical day looks like, stage of development, and any underlying issues that might be interfering with sleep. You will never be asked to leave your baby or toddler alone to cry. Meeting the needs of your little one, by responding to his/her cry, will give you a beautiful deep connection where he or she will feel secure in your love. Together we will create a sleep plan tailored for you and your family.

“Johnna was amazing!!! I am a first time mom, who came home with some idea of how to care for a baby, but still with lots of questions. Having her come visit was the best thing I did for myself that first week! She is so sweet, and makes you feel as comfortable as a friend would.  She also has the knowledge of a hospital nurse, and answered so many questions I had about nursing, pumping, and schedules for my baby. She even brought a baby scale, and did a lactation consultation! I think what was my favorite part of her visit though was the hand massage – I had terrible carpal tunnel, and she gave me some kind of hand/arm massage that helped it almost immediately. It was such a helpful visit, that I booked her right away for the next week!” -Elizabeth

"Three weeks after having my first child I was struggling with uncertainty and the inevitable anxiety around whether I was producing enough milk and whether my baby was receiving enough during feedings. There were times I felt we were in a good rhythm and times I questioned if I was doing it right at all. When looking into lactation support, Johnna was highly recommended to me by a trusted source as being a great resource in the community who’s been “doing this work forever.”

Once I messaged her, she responded right away and made herself available for a home visit the very next day. Johnna’s gentle and calming energy put me at ease from the start. She was knowledgeable and patient in answering all of my questions, and she brought her scale to definitively confirm the amount of milk intake after a nursing session. Hearing that all is going well with breastfeeding and that my son is thriving has been so reassuring - especially since it’s so hard to know how much milk your baby is getting when exclusively breastfeeding! Johnna welcomes follow-up communication as needed, and I feel so much more comfortable knowing that her expertise and kind support are just a text away.

I highly recommend Johnna for any breastfeeding mother seeking support throughout this new, sacred, and often anxiety producing journey of breastfeeding!" -Natalie
